THIS IS WHERE THAT STORY SEEMS TO BE HEADING
Something about articles, didn't he say?
Relying on a memory like rusty pipes—you make the call.
There was a place / right down on the corner.
Shitty tippers and their lowlife ways ruined you for everybody,
but as they say in Spain: "¡Basta!"
And there's always an “anyway,” so if you play your cards right
you can have one too.
I can't imagine living another day without me.
Doesn't it always taste better on a clear plastic fork?
How much salve does a body need these days?
I'll tell you how much: too much.
Come to Jesus and come as you are.
When I broke your heart I meant to break your will.
Rest assured I will never break the bank.

Slipshod Sonnet #8
I have a very hard time spelling
resuscitate who the hell doesn’t
you know you’ve had it when happy
trails makes you cry and this sweet
old world finally feels so funny
oh right clients aren’t supposed
to have manners it’s not your
yarmulke they mind it’s your
manner a big world full of it what
a total shit show it turned out
to be here’s hoping all those new
folks don’t turn out insipid but
no one’s holding their breath and
even so I look good in blue.

WHAT TO SAVE FROM A FIRE
Not Che Guevara’s hair
Not your father’s Jaguar
Not your High School Yearbook
Not your fountain pen
Not your Trini Lopez single
Not what you ate for breakfast
Not the first thing you thought of when you woke up
Not that nagging doubt
Not yesterday’s news
Not tomorrow’s troubles
Not a Charleston Chew
Not an impossible situation
Not your unmanageable life
Not your answered prayers
Not your unanswered prayers
Not your father’s Jaguar
Not your High School Yearbook
Not your fountain pen
Not your Trini Lopez single
Not what you ate for breakfast
Not the first thing you thought of when you woke up
Not that nagging doubt
Not yesterday’s news
Not tomorrow’s troubles

Not your unanswered prayers

STILL LIFE WITH SLIM JIM
Go ahead snap out of it
You never had it so good
He's late so he'll just listen
Left a bad taste but I digress
And if you think that's bad
Forget it brother forget it
There is a lonely woman
Her complaints all out of tune
Fully charged fully aware
The only one left standing
You feel a bitter wind coming
Try not to be in time for it
You never had it so good
He's late so he'll just listen
Left a bad taste but I digress
And if you think that's bad
Forget it brother forget it
There is a lonely woman
Her complaints all out of tune
Fully charged fully aware
The only one left standing
You feel a bitter wind coming
Try not to be in time for it
