There was an old lady who swallowed a cow.
I don't know how she swallowed a cow!
She swallowed the cow to catch the goat... She swallowed the goat to catch the dog...
She swallowed the dog to catch the cat...
She swallowed the cat to catch the bird ...
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider
That wriggled and jiggled and wiggled inside her.
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly.
But I dunno why she swallowed that fly
Perhaps she'll die.

There was an old lady who swallowed a horse -
She's dead, of course.

Good to know that eating a whole cow won't kill you...

I've had some experience with this. Eating a whole cow wont kill you, but you'll need to spend the next 24 hours within sight of the bathrrom.

see dotcomments! the french have been talking about swallowing these flies in an institutionalized way for years!

gobemouche (GAWB moosh)

Someone who believes any report or rumor, not matter how improbable.

This word is an adaptation of French gobes-mouche (from gober meaning "to gulp" and mouche, meaning "fly" (and a distant relative of our word for a much thinner, but similarly noisome insect, the mosquito).
