I agree. I fell in love with Batman Begins. It was the first one in that franchise worth its salt.

saw the first half of _batman begins_ last summer at the drive-in and nearly fell asleep over my beer. too dark and laden with portent, which in itself ain't the clincher that made it boring. it was the quasi-mystic enterprise of the matter. on the whole, the batman franchise sucks. i'd rather watch the lot of the _tremors_ movies than sit thru the batman films.

agree with _land of the dead_ watched it again last night. haven't seen the _saw_ films, but they've been heartily recommended by people whose taste falls in line with mine.

loved _millions_ a smashing affectionate film by danny boyle. but my favorite film of the year is, yep you guessed it, rob zombie's _the devil's rejects_ ain't everyone's cup of tea, but it was so well-made, so nasty, and so much like a drive-in exploitation movie from the 1970s.

You have to see The Squid and The Whale. It was one of my favorite movies from 2005.
