Ernest "Boom" Carter played drums on the studio recording of "Born to Run," not Max Weinberg. Which explains why live versions never sound quite right. The major difference being in the kick drum.

Max Weinberg was on that Bob Costas "Later" show about ten years ago and said Bruce almost fired him once because Max couldn't find his timing.
What an odd thing to admit.
